ONGOING ANNOUNCEMENTS:
1. Crow's Nest Space for rent
So the upstairs is kind of big, but kind of small, and it's perfect for meetings, small workshops or lectures, and other types of events. We're not sure of the max capacity, but around 15 people at a meeting and as many as 25 could be at an event. If you're interested, there's a pdf flier/form here and also a paper copy at the Anchor Archive. Email anchorarchive@gmail.com with questions.
2. Anchor Archive Fan Club
We're paying more rent now, and although the extra, multipurpose space will make room for small events, meetings, and workshops, as well as a work station and office space but it won't necessarily generate enough money for rent. Although we have applied for a few project-based and employment grants, we don't want to rely on the uncertainty of grants for operational costs. So, we are asking Anchor Archive fans (especially friends, family, zine-library patrons and the Halifax art community) to help us cover the increased cost of rent by making financial contributions.
We've always considered it important to provide free or affordable events and services, and up until now we've managed to keep things going with a very small budget. If you've enjoyed visiting the zine library and attending events in the past, or think the Anchor Archive is a valuable part of the art community in Halifax, then this is the time to offer a little bit of support.
All contributions of any amount will be greatly appreciated and will be essential to the survival of our little non-profit arts organization as we grow to meet the need for more community art space in Halifax.
If you are interested in joining the Anchor Archive Fan Club (by donating money) or if you know anyone who might, please send us an email and we will send more information outlining how contributions can be made, how the funds will be used and what fans receive in appreciation of their support. There are also info packs available at the Anchor Archive.
We also know that financial contribution isn't possible for many fans and patrons. If you're interested in helping during this busy time, stop by and ask how you can volunteer. Continuing to attend events and use the library is also a way of showing your support. We have a busy and exciting summer ahead and we look forward to sharing it with you!
